
Uz. Mohamed Aseel Hassan is a
registered lawyer in the Maldives since 2013 and an elected Member of the
Executive Committee of the Maldives Bar Council. He acquired his Law Degree
from Oxford Brookes University and has a Master’s Degree in International and
Commercial Dispute Resolution Law, with a special focus on Arbitration from the
University of Westminster in the UK.
Uz. Aseel has completed various
trainings in Alternative Dispute Resolution, including a Program on Negotiation
by Insight Collaborative at the New York University School of Law and attended
classes on Environmental Law and Policy at Columbia Law School. Uz. Aseel is also a Climate Change fellow of the Alliance of
Small Island States (AOSIS).
Uz. Aseel is currently the Legal Counsel of
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, and has worked as an Attorney
at the Attorney General's Office, and at the Permanent Mission of the Maldives
to United Nations in New York.
Uz. Aseel is also a Co-Founder Member
and Board Member of the Public Interest Law Center.
